1 Corinthians 12:25-26 (Worldwide English (New Testament))
Now, all of you together are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. God has given each person their right place in the church. First, there are the apostles. Second, there are prophets who speak words from God. Third, there are those who teach. Then there are those who do big works. Then there are those who have the gifts to heal people, those who help in the work of the church people, those who lead and guide others, and those who speak God’s words in different kinds of tongues or languages.
Like many churches in this challenging economic times, my church is struggling to keep it’s doors open.
The church is a vital part of the Christian community. It is a gathering place for us to set aside our worries and worship our Creator. It is time to refresh our souls and strengthen our faith.
The church is a vital resourse for the neighborhood community. It is a shelter to those in need; offering food, clothing and a friendly face to all who enter it’s doors.
We all make up this body of Christ. It doesn’t matter what you give: time, money, or prayers; it doesn’t matter how much or how little you give, we all contribute to it’s life.
If you have fallen down on supporting your church, pull yourself up and start again. Pray for guidance in how you can best contribute; God will let you know.
Let’s not allow this important part of our community be destroyed because of our the present situation.
