What it Means to Live like Jesus

1 John 2:3-6
We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

1 John 2:10
Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.

During my Bible studies, one lady asked us what our thoughts were about verse 6: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

Her thought was that it meant to love everyone. But, than she asked, “What does love mean?” Did we think it is an action word? And, she wanted to know how we interpreted nothing in them to make them stumble from verse 10.

We are called

I love the beckoning sound of church bells on Sunday morning. Occasiionally, there is a lull in the traffic and I am able to hear the bells joyful song. Unfortunately, the noises of the city often drown it out. These same noises can also overpower God’s beckoning call if we don’t search for a lull in our lives.

I have added a poem to my Poetry page. It is entitled Beckoning and is about both church bells and God’s voice beckoning us to action.
