He is With You Always

I was weak. I was vulnerable. I was scared.

I was recovering from three consecutive major surgeries. I was heavily drugged … And I was under attack.

I was hearing voices, not happy, reassuring voices, these voices were low and demonic. In my mind’s eye, I was being visually attacked by creatures-creatures from the “underworld. (Satan likes to come after us when we’re at our lowest point. (Satan Tempts Jesus) Satan knows that the only way to possibly influence us is when we are laid wide open. Our minds are most easily influenced in this state.)

In fear, my soul cried out to my Savior. With the assurance that I am a child of God, I knew that He would protect me. Lying in my bed, I began mentally reciting scriptures from memory, singing praises to God, and denouncing Satan. Shouting at him in my mind, telling him, “You have no power over me! I belong to God, and he will protect me!”

Gradually the creatures began to disappear, replaced by blooming flowers. One of Jesus’s names is “the Rose of Sharon.” I believe the flowers were to remind me that He was with me. As a sense of peace enveloped me, I eventually relaxed and went to sleep.

This is an experience I pray I never have to go through again. But I am grateful for the result of the strengthening of my faith, and the increased knowledge of God’s ever presence in my life.

God Loves Us So Much

john_6-40

Our Father in Heaven loves us more than we deserve. It breaks His heart when we stray from His path. He wants only for us to focus on Him and trust in His ways.

He loves us so much, that He sent His only Son, Jesus, down to earth. Thus, allowing Jesus to experience the human feelings of anguish and pain. To teach us about eternal life and show us the way to get it.

He is my Rock

Psalm 18:2

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Psalm 91:14-16

Why do we worry when we know we are God’s children? When we know He will take care of us? We know that as His children we live within a circle of His protection. Nothing can touch us without His permission.

When we are in the midst of a terrible storm, we are assured of His protection. When our lives seem dim and dark we can still see the sunshine of His Love – a rainbow of blessings and a peace from within, a peace that will pass all understanding.

The Bible tells us that we need not fear the terror by night, nor the destruction by day, for the Lord is your refuge and place of protection.(Psalm 91:4)

Are you letting God be your rock, your refuge in the storm? He can—and will—protect you from the storm, if you will allow Him to.

He Was Always There

2 Cor. 12:9

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Cor 12:7b-9

I counted the other day; since my diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, I’ve undergone over 25 surgeries and procedures. Only one was not directly related to RA—kidney stone removal. In 1982 alone, I went through 5 operations. The first two, knee replacements were done 7 days apart. People ask me how I manage to stay upbeat and not give up on life.

‟After many years of struggles, I have accepted my plight.” I add that my faith, strong now, took years to mature.

Praise Him Anyway

Psalm 59:16-17

Psalm 59:16-17
But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.

The last week has been rough in my household. No one of my family has felt well. From a bad reaction from getting teeth pulled, to my sinuses bothering me, I could easily forgo praising God. However it is in times like this that I feel the need to praise Him even more.

Ask and You Shall Receive

Matt 7:7-8

Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.  Matt 7:7-8

Our God is an awesome and generous God!

I decided I really wanted to be a lifetime member in a forum that I was paying a monthly fee for. The amount was prohibitive, but if I took into account the many times I paid during the year, the one-time cost made sense. For two weeks I prayed that if it was God’s will and I could bring glory to Him with what I learn from the members, He would provide me with the means to join permanently. I looked around my things. Maybe I could sell something.  I thought. I could find nothing. I brainstormed ideas to write and sell as e-books. A few ideas came to mind, but there is no guarantee the books would sell.

Then, after God gave me time to show that I was willing to earn the money for myself, He provided the funds. How He provided them isn’t important, suffice it to say that it was unexpected…you might even say miraculous. I do..

I have always believed God provided for our needs, but I have sometimes forgotten that He also provided for our wants. However, there are several places in the Bible that assure us that He gives us the extra desires of our hearts. 1John 5:14-15 says that we can have confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. Matt 21:22 says Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. Not one verse I found says “if you need it” they all say “whatever” or “anything.” That includes your wants. I thank God for this generosity.

I can only guess how this gift from God will provide me the opportunity to spread His glory more powerfully and efficiently. I’m excited to start my new journey and see where He takes me with this new knowledge..

Have you received an unexpected showering of God’s grace in your life? I’d love to hear about your experience. Please leave your comment below.

God will not let you be tempted more than you can bear

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

How many times have you heard someone say, “God never gives you more than you can bear”Well, the truth is that, at times He may allow troubles to overwhelm us. However, if we keep our trust in Him we can overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Joy from God

God wants us to live a joyful life. A life in which you want to sing and praise Him everyday.

Although, joy so intense you think your heart will burst can only last for a short time, the memory gives you a rush of happiness you can relive many times throughout the day.

In this slide show, I tell you about one technique I use to open my heart to that awesome joy God can give us.

Do you have a way you connect to God’s joy? If so, please tell me about it. I like trying new ways to strengthen my relationship with God.

If you don’t have a special technique, why not try mine? Remember, it may take several times before you feel anything. If you want to open your heart to His gift of joy, you might need to do this for a few nights.

Let me know how it works for you. You can leave a comment below or send me an email. I want to know if it works for others as well as it works for me.

The Purpose Driven Life (Book Review)

No matter your circumstances, God has a purpose for you and the ability to help you achieve that purpose. One of my favorite books that teaches on how to live the Christian life is Rick Warren’s, The Purpose Driven Life. Using Scripture as foundation, this book helps the reader find meaning in his life. It helps clarify the real meaning of why God put us on earth. It is extremely helpful to those who are experiencing difficulties in life, who are questioning if God has forgotten them, or if God even cares about them.

I think it is imperative to have your Bible and a notepad next you as you are reading. I had several “Aha!” moments as I went through the chapters. Rick makes connections to scripture and daily living that I either had never thought of or I have forgotten over the years.

The Purpose Driven Life is intended to be read over a 40 day period – one chapter per day. Each chapter takes about 15 minutes to read. I believe the short chapters encourage the reader to spend time throughout the day meditating on what he read and figuring out how it might applied to his life.

This book is for everyone. It helps Christians remember why God put them here on earth, and provides a life changing direction for those seeking answers.
I highly recommend this book. I you haven’t read it, now is the time to discover God’s purpose for your life and stop ‟floundering.”

If you have read this book, how did its message impact your way of life? Did you feel more equipt to face the challenges of day to day living? What encouragement can you give someone who hasn’t read it? Please leave a comment below.
