Patience and a positive attitude goes a long way when you have a chronic illness. It is too easy to let self-pity and depression take hold. This make you miserable. Studies show that a sense of happiness and hopefulness can improve your health. It can help you tolerate pain better, help you accomplish your goals easier, and improve the aging process. But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.
The last week has been rough in my household. No one of my family has felt well. From a bad reaction from getting teeth pulled, to my sinuses bothering me, I could easily forgo praising God. However it is in times like this that I feel the need to praise Him even more.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
As Christians we are told to let our light shine for Christ. There are many ways we can do this. God gave each of us different talents in order to bring His glory to the world. Some of us have the talent to speak, sing, and teach. However, there are other talents that we may not recognize as easily, such as listening, praying, or being a good friend.
God wants us to live a joyful life. A life in which you want to sing and praise Him everyday.
Although, joy so intense you think your heart will burst can only last for a short time, the memory gives you a rush of happiness you can relive many times throughout the day.
In this slide show, I tell you about one technique I use to open my heart to that awesome joy God can give us.
Do you have a way you connect to God’s joy? If so, please tell me about it. I like trying new ways to strengthen my relationship with God.
If you don’t have a special technique, why not try mine? Remember, it may take several times before you feel anything. If you want to open your heart to His gift of joy, you might need to do this for a few nights.
Let me know how it works for you. You can leave a comment below or send me an email. I want to know if it works for others as well as it works for me.

You are the center of my life
of my life...Center Of My Life by Dion
Have you thought about how many people you impact with your live? (Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.) Wouldn’t it be great if they could see God as the center of your life. Just imagine all of the things you could accomplish for Him, and how far you could spread His word.
No matter your circumstances, God has a purpose for you and the ability to help you achieve that purpose. One of my favorite books that teaches on how to live the Christian life is Rick Warren’s, The Purpose Driven Life. Using Scripture as foundation, this book helps the reader find meaning in his life. It helps clarify the real meaning of why God put us on earth. It is extremely helpful to those who are experiencing difficulties in life, who are questioning if God has forgotten them, or if God even cares about them.
I think it is imperative to have your Bible and a notepad next you as you are reading. I had several “Aha!” moments as I went through the chapters. Rick makes connections to scripture and daily living that I either had never thought of or I have forgotten over the years.
The Purpose Driven Life is intended to be read over a 40 day period – one chapter per day. Each chapter takes about 15 minutes to read. I believe the short chapters encourage the reader to spend time throughout the day meditating on what he read and figuring out how it might applied to his life.
This book is for everyone. It helps Christians remember why God put them here on earth, and provides a life changing direction for those seeking answers.
I highly recommend this book. I you haven’t read it, now is the time to discover God’s purpose for your life and stop ‟floundering.”
If you have read this book, how did its message impact your way of life? Did you feel more equipt to face the challenges of day to day living? What encouragement can you give someone who hasn’t read it? Please leave a comment below.
Remember, no matter what happens – He will never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
What a comforting verse, assuring us that the gift of eternal life is free. John says that God ‟gave His one and only Son” and all we have to do is ‟believe in Him” and we will live eternally. In Acts we are told that if we believe ‟on the Lord Jesus Christ” we will be saved. (Acts 16:31a)
If you receive Jesus into your heart, believe He is your Savior, you will become a child of God and spend eternity in heaven with Him. We need no longer pay the price for our sins, because He ‟gave Himself for our sins.” (Galatians 1:4a) and paid the full price with His death on the cross.
Have you excepted the ‟free gift” of eternal life God is offering you? If you haven’t, now is a great time to accept Jesus as your Savior and ask Him into your heart. Start out this new year with a new life in Christ. It’s easy to do; pray the following words and know He hears you and welcomes you as one of His own.
Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I’m sorry for my sins and sincerely regret my actions. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to cleanse me from my sins. I accept Him as my Lord and Savior and invite Him into my heart and into my life. This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
Prayer is our way of communication with God. It is an important aspect of our relationship with him. Like any relationship, communication is essential.
God wants a personal relationship with us and it is through prayer we develop that relationship.
Paul tells us in 1Thess 5:17 to “pray without ceasing. Therefore, we are to be constantly in contact with our Heavenly Father. With the various forms of prayer available, this is easy to accomplish.
I love this time of the year: the colorful lights, joyful sounds of caroling, and happy laughter of children. I look forward to the birth of our Savior.
Unfortunately, mixed with the joy is a sadness.The tragedy in Connecticut lingers in our hearts and minds, casting a shadow over the season.
Twenty children, eagerly awaiting Christmas, taken so suddenly and unnecessarily. My heart cries for all of us, for we are all affected in one way or another. My solace is the thought that these young ones are in Heaven, celebrating with Jesus this year.
I pray you will allow this thought and the Joy of Christmas lighten the darkness and bring you a measure of peace.
