He is With You Always

I was weak. I was vulnerable. I was scared.

I was recovering fromĀ three consecutive major surgeries. I was heavily drugged … And I was under attack.

I was hearing voices, not happy, reassuring voices, these voices were low and demonic. In my mind’s eye, I was being visually attacked by creatures-creatures from the “underworld. (Satan likes to come after us when we’re at our lowest point. (Satan Tempts Jesus) Satan knows that the only way to possibly influence us is when we are laid wide open. Our minds are most easily influenced in this state.)

In fear, my soul cried out to my Savior. With the assurance that I am a child of God, I knew that He would protect me. Lying in my bed, I began mentally reciting scriptures from memory, singingĀ praises to God, and denouncing Satan. Shouting at him in my mind, telling him, “You have no power over me! I belong to God, and he will protect me!”

Gradually the creatures began to disappear, replaced by blooming flowers. One of Jesus’s names is “the Rose of Sharon.” I believe the flowers were to remind me that He was with me. As a sense of peace enveloped me, I eventually relaxed and went to sleep.

This is an experience I pray I never have to go through again. But I am grateful for the result of the strengthening of my faith, and the increased knowledge of God’s ever presence in my life.

Ask and You Shall Receive

Matt 7:7-8

Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Ā Matt 7:7-8

Our God is an awesome and generous God!

I decided I really wanted to be a lifetime member in a forum that I was paying a monthly fee for. The amount was prohibitive, but if I took into account the many times I paid during the year, the one-time cost made sense. For two weeks I prayed that if it was God’s will and I could bring glory to Him with what I learn from the members, He would provide me with the means to join permanently. I looked around my things. Maybe I could sell something.Ā  I thought. I could find nothing. I brainstormed ideas to write and sell as e-books. A few ideas came to mind, but there is no guarantee the books would sell.

Then, after God gave me time to show that I was willing to earn the money for myself, He provided the funds. How He provided them isn’t important, suffice it to say that it was unexpected…you might even say miraculous. I do..

I have always believed God provided for our needs, but I have sometimes forgotten that He also provided for our wants. However, there are several places in the Bible that assure us that He gives us the extra desires of our hearts. 1John 5:14-15 says that we can have confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.Ā Matt 21:22 says Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.Ā Not one verse I found says “if you need it” they all say “whatever” or “anything.” That includes your wants. I thank God for this generosity.

I can only guess how this gift from God will provide me the opportunity to spread His glory more powerfully and efficiently. I’m excited to start my new journey and see where He takes me with this new knowledge..

Have you received an unexpected showering of God’s grace in your life? I’d love to hear about your experience. Please leave your comment below.

Prayer: Communication With God

Prayer is our way of communication with God.Ā  It is an important aspect of our relationship with him. Like any relationship, communication is essential.

God wants a personal relationship with us and it is through prayer we develop that relationship.

Paul tells us in 1Thess 5:17 to “pray without ceasing. Therefore, we are to be constantly in contact with our Heavenly Father. With the various forms of prayer available, this is easy to accomplish.

The Lord’s Prayer Revisited

Our Father who is in heaven,
Your name is holy. Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on the earth, as it is done in heaven.
Give us all we need each day.
And forgive us our sins, as we are to forgive those who do us wrong..
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one:
For Your’s is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Several months ago, I wrote a post about The Lord’s Prayer: a simple, familiar prayer given to us by Jesus. I called it the perfect example of how we should pray. Today, I’m reposting this entry and using a more modern version I heard on an online podcast. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the speaker, so I can’t give proper credit.

I love this time of the year: the colorful lights, joyful sounds of caroling, and happy laughter of children. I look forward to the birth of our Savior.

Unfortunately, mixed with the joy is a sadness. The tragedy in Connecticut lingers in our hearts and minds, casting a shadow over the season.

Twenty children, eagerly awaiting Christmas, taken so suddenly and unnecessarily. My heart cries for all of us, for we are all affected in one way or another. My solace is the thought that these young ones are in Heaven, celebrating with Jesus this year.

I pray you will allow this thought and the Joy of Christmas lighten the darkness and bring you a measure of peace.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalms 34:17,18

Life isn’t always easy. Some days, nothing seems to go our way. Challenges pile up, then we become stressed and unhappy. At these times it isn’t easy to praise God. Digging into The Word can comfort our troubled minds.

My Prayer

My Prayer

Today I will rejoice in the Lord.

He has filled me with joy,

He has released me from sin.

Thank you Jesus, for your sacrifice,

help me be worthy of it.

Give me strength to accept your will,

guide me to follow your way.

Ever increase my life with your riches.

Secure in the knowledge

earthly treasures comfort for a short time,

yet heavenly treasures last an eternity.

I praise you, O Lord, you’re awesome!

You lighten my heart and bring song to my soul.

Humbled by your love, I rejoice.

Praise be to you, O Lord!

You together are the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:25-26 (Worldwide English (New Testament))

Now, all of you together are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. God has given each person their right place in the church. First, there are the apostles. Second, there are prophets who speak words from God. Third, there are those who teach. Then there are those who do big works. Then there are those who have the gifts to heal people, those who help in the work of the church people, those who lead and guide others, and those who speak God’s words in different kinds of tongues or languages.

Praying for others

Matthew 18:19-20
Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.

“Will you pray for my aunt? She’s going in for surgery.”
“My son is being sent to Iraq. Can you put him and his unit in your prayers?”
“I could use some prayers, I’m not doing well.”
